Aces & Eights. known as the Dead Man’s Hand was the hand allegedly held by famous gunslinger Wild Bill Hicock, when he was murdered during a game of cards by Jack McCall in 1876. It is a pair of black 8’s and black aces. As it was a five card stud game, he would have had a kicker but the reports of the identity of this card are unknown, varying from the Jack of Clubs to the Queen of Hearts. As such, this hand has gained notoriety as an inauspicious hand or bad luck…
